İsmail BÜTÜN
Artisan İsmail Bütün, one of the leading artisans of the traditional Çanakkale ceramics tradition, has been practicing this art for over 60 years, producing thousands of works. His works, highly appreciated by art lovers, can be seen in various exhibitions, museums, and collectors' shelves. Artisan İsmail, who organizes courses to pass on the tradition to future generations and trains many apprentices, is recognized as a role model in the field of traditional Çanakkale ceramics. Honored with the title of "Living Human Treasure" by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2017, Artisan İsmail's life is a story of deep commitment to the art of traditional Çanakkale ceramics.
Burak ÇİFTCİ
Burak Çiftci, the bearer of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and a traditional Çanakkale Ceramics Artist, was born in 1986. After graduating from the Traditional Turkish Handicrafts department in 2008, he became the last representative of traditional ceramics spanning three generations, collaborating with Artisan İsmail Bütün, who is honored as a Living Human Treasure. The turning point in his journey to becoming a ceramics master was crossing paths with Living Human Treasure İsmail Bütün in 2013. Since 2013, Çiftci has been producing traditional pottery with Artisan İsmail. He plays a significant role in preserving the traditional Çanakkale ceramics, which are on the verge of extinction, and continues his efforts towards this goal. One of Çiftci's many traditional Çanakkale ceramics works, his horse-headed piece, has been exhibited at the Faenza International Ceramics Museum (MIC Faenza), one of the world's largest ceramics museums in Faenza, Italy, as of 2024.
Sinem KINAY
Sinem Kınay, the bearer
of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture
and Tourism, graduated from the Ceramic Department of Ege University in 1998.
She has served as an instructor in numerous workshops on traditional Çanakkale
ceramics at the Çanakkale Ceramic Museum and has contributed to the promotion
of ceramics at national fairs and events with the potter's wheel. Kınay's work
has been featured in many group and solo exhibitions, and one of her pieces is
part of the collection at the Faenza International Ceramics Museum. Currently,
she continues to produce traditional Çanakkale basket weaving and other
traditional forms at the Çanakkale Municipality Art Workshop and their joint
workshops with Burak Çiftci.
